We know that some students who arrive at NESSSS can find literacy challenging. To help them, we work with Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) to create programmes that will help students not only access the curriculum but survive in the modern world. We recognise that good reading skills are often the key to ensuring a successful future for many of our young people and choose literature and activities that will help inspire them to move forwards. In Key Stage 4, we offer qualifications from Pearson Entry Level Functional Skills to AQA English Language and students are constantly assessed to fit them in to the right qualifications.
